Hi Friends! Now I will introduce one of our new student from Ecuador.

Every New Year gives us new spectations in our life about our future and Semisud in Ecuador is not the exception. We have new students who integrate to the group of students. One of these students is SILVIO FÉLIX CEVALLOS PARRA who was born in February 27 in Cayambe in the North of Quito. He studied in Guayaquil School and in the Quinche Cardenal de la Torre high school. He studied English at Army and then Theological Sciences for 5 years in the Latinoamerican Biblical University.

He knew Jesus in his 30 years. He didn’t have any specific religion but he only had a weak faith in God. He testifies that when his wife was pregnant of his first baby they didn’t know what would be his sex they wanted to be a surprise. And when his wife was in her sixth month he had a dream. He saw a cute baby who came running to him between the forest. After the time a boy was born and some day when they were in a camp with flowers he came running to him, all was exactly the same as in his dream. This is only one example that persuaded him to know Jesus and go to give thanks to Him.

One day came and he went alone to the church and nobody has invited neither preached to him and since the first time he went he liked it so much that he did a promise to go all his life and never be absent. He received Jesus as his Saviour and Lord and was baptized after three weeks. He made a promise to work for the church and not be one more of  the congregation who is sitting down. Since his first time as Christian he began to help to organize the addresses, cleaning and preaching calendars between others. After a while some months his wife received Jesus by his testimony.

Because he had a huge wish to share biblical topics to the brothers, he began to do it and finally God gave him the opportunity to share the God’s Word in the vigils and occasionally on Sundays. He never imagined to serve God. In his youth he used to called Christians as fanatics and he didn’t understand them. He had another plans for his life. His job area was administrative in Private Security but God called him in a perfect time taking his life to do what he has planned since before the foundation of the world.

After two years of his conversion he was named layman Pastor by half time and in that way he was progressing and now he is the Ecuador Methodist Evangelical
Church’s proclaimed Pastor by full time. His passion serves to the Lord and his
wife works as children teacher and their son and daughter in the praise group.
Today he Works as Pastor of the El Nazareno Church in Ascázubí in El Quinche since November 2nd, 1998.

Talking about the necessities of people, Silvio thinks they need love, need to be listened and need to trust in somebody.

The materialism does not full their necessities and the emptiness of their hearts is bigger every time.

Every body who is submerged in the poverty needs a friendly hand and of somebody who tells them that there is a God who never has abandoned and who is waiting for them. In the case of youth people they need a guide, a counselling that not always find in their houses. They need value their life, they need real Christian friends who lead them in the life and in the best way of the truth. And also children need the love of parents because the majority of them have involved in the job and think that giving them material gifts and a lot of toys is sufficient. But they do not know that the children’s heart is breathing dried of love, of a hug, of a lovely caress and of a soft voice who tells them I love you.

His goal to study in Semisud is get the degree in Pastoral Theology. He believes that he has invested many time and money and it would not be right to stop now. In other way he wants to renovate his knowledge and increase the Theological tools because everywhere the pastoral work is more exigent. In 10 years forward he would like to be serving to God and reaching hundred of souls for Jesus, this one is his challenge.

In this year he had to travel to Costa Rica to finish his studies but he didn’t have the
money and felt that he needed something else to complete his preparation. And after being looking for an answer God puts in his heart and guided him to come
to study in Semisud because he knows people who have left are well prepared and have excellent preparation and some of them are their co-pastors.

He is in this seminary by God’s will and by the testimony of the Seminary, reasons
that moved him here.

About the subjects that have been learning, Silvio thinks that all together are useful in his job as Pastor. However talking about Cultural Anthropology he says that was an experience that fortified his knowledge about the culture of other countries. He found the presentation of the subject, the themes very interesting and overall the area’s job worked outside was a closeexperience to live and feel.

Testimonies like this produce in our hearts more love for our people. Pastor Silvio has showed us how God has not changed and continue transforming families. I hope you can consider day by day to thanks God in all what you are doing now. That was the interview of this day. Thanks for your attention. Good bye!!
